CGI builds workforce capability with InfoBasis technology
InfoBasis capability software enables improved HR practices
CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a leading provider of IT and business process services, has chosen technology from capability management expert InfoBasis as part of its drive towards an outstanding workplace. InfoBasis’ Enterprise Skills Managerâ„¢ (InfoBasis ESM 4.5) will provide HR functionality in several areas to make CGI an even greater place for staff to build an IT career.
CGI will use InfoBasis ESM to clarify and systemise job descriptions as part of a new, clearer career structure. “By providing a clear set of job roles, we enable employees to understand where they can go next by highlighting the difference between current and required capability, allow training to be targeted at those skills gaps, and let managers find and deploy the right person for the job,” says Tony Freer, head of training at CGI.
Assessments and job roles are built on the Oxford Group Dictionary of Behaviours and the IT professional skills framework, SFIAplus (the Skills Framework for the Information Age). “The solution covers over 400 IT personnel, across a wide variety of roles, often with complex, multiple skill sets,” says Tony. “Collecting and maintaining this data on paper would be very difficult, if not impossible.”
The previous appraisal and skills management solution was based on employees receiving performance reviews and updating their CVs twice a year and was very much a manual process. Using InfoBasis ESM, employees can keep their skills data up-to-date at any time and managers can search quickly for skills across the workforce.
“It will help projects start faster, with the right personnel, and make CGI a more interesting, challenging place to build a career,” says Tony.
“In every industry, job roles are continuously changing,” said Ashley Wheaton, CEO of InfoBasis. “A large part of our work with CGI is about reducing the paper intensity of traditional processes to enable them to keep pace with this rate of change.”
