InfoBasis Announces Support for Professional Skills for Government
InfoBasis, the capability management expert, has announced support for the UK's Professional Skills for Government initiative. The company has configured its skills management platform - InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Managerâ„¢ (InfoBasis ESM) - to be capable of providing assessment against the many competency frameworks used in the programme.
Professional Skills for Government (PSG) is a core part of the Government's Delivery and Reform agenda. It aims to ensure that civil servants have the skills and expertise to do their job well. It is also used to guide staff development and career decisions.
Civil servants are required to demonstrate skills and expertise in areas matching their job and chosen career path. These include leadership, core skills for the civil service and job-related professional skills.
By September 2007, 95% of Senior Civil Servants are expected to have a development plan in place, and at least 75% are expected to demonstrate competence in all core areas. InfoBasis ESM will permit rapid skills assessment across the core PSG skills frameworks and the specialist skills frameworks, such as the Government IT Competency Framework, based closely on SFIA v 3.
"The professional skills agenda will enable individuals to pursue clearly defined career paths, and the civil service to ensure that best use is made of their skills in all areas," said InfoBasis CEO Ashley Wheaton. "We're proud to be part of an initiative that is helping develop a civil service fit for the twenty-first century."
