Professor William Scott-Jackson to talk on Human Capital Management at InfoBasis summit

Expert reveals research results and best practice in measuring intangible human assets

LONDON, UK – Professor William Scott-Jackson, Director of the Centre for Applied HR Research at Oxford Brookes Business School, will deliver the opening keynote at the InfoBasis Summit 2006, on ‘Measuring Human Capital for Performance Benefits’. Explaining the background and importance of human capital, Professor Scott-Jackson will stress that although human capital is not tangible, it can – and should – be measured.

“Intangible assets are increasingly important as part of a company’s value” said Professor Scott-Jackson, “and human capital often makes up the majority of intangible worth. Yet most organisations struggle to understand or fully utilise the capabilities of their workforce.” The keynote address will consider how to measure people capabilities, and how to link them to organisational strategy. “This is no longer a nice-to have,” commented Scott-Jackson. “In the modern economy, understanding the strategic capabilities of your workforce is essential.”

Professor Scott-Jackson pursued a successful career at ICL, where he was Director of Engineering, before becoming a Visiting Fellow at Oxford University (Skope) and Director of the Centre for Applied HR Research, which carries out practitioner-oriented research into the impact of HR on business.

The InfoBasis Summit 2006 takes place on 19th September at Millbank Tower, London, and is organised by skills management experts InfoBasis. Other speakers include Alan Hewitt, Partner at IBM, PA Consulting senior consultant Phil Rice, as well as case studies from Transport for London and Touchpaper.
