ICS enhances technology to increase IT professionalism in Ireland
InfoBasis software to help ICS raise standards in IT through SKILLSCERT
The Irish Computer Society (ICS), Ireland’s national representative body for ICT, has upgraded its InfoBasis skills assessment technology in order to implement its IT accreditation programme, SKILLSCERT, in businesses throughout Ireland.
Using InfoBasis’ Enterprise Skills Infrastructure platform (ESI), SKILLSCERT provides individuals and organisations with a standard, recognised way to evaluate and certify IT skills. The programme, based on Skills Frameworks for the Information Age (SFIA), visibly quantifies skills and should improve business levels in the IT industry. This will help IT professionals define job roles according to an industry standard, plan career paths more easily, and identify where training is required.
InfoBasis software has also helped revolutionise ICS’s accreditation process, automating tasks such as online assessment and printing qualification certificates including a full, confirmed SFIA profile.
“ICS has reached an exciting stage with the expansion of SKILLSCERT,” said Mary Cleary, Professional Development Manager at ICS. “By the end of the year, we hope to have around 300 IT workers coming through the programme annually. Without InfoBasis software, the process simply would not be possible.”
“IT is more than a niche role. It’s evolving professionally within all businesses,” said Ashley Wheaton, CEO of InfoBasis. “Being able to visually measure skills is vital to SKILLSCERT, and InfoBasis technology will enable ICS to take Ireland’s IT to the level of professionalism it deserves.”
