InfoBasis to ensure training is on track at Hibernian

InfoBasis’ skills technology crosses the Irish Sea to Hibernian

Hibernian, Ireland’s largest composite insurer, has chosen skills management expert InfoBasis to help identify and define training needs within its IT department.

Hibernian will use InfoBasis’ technology to perform a skills audit, after recommendation from another member of the Aviva Group, Norwich Union. Following an initial pilot the program will extend to professionals across all areas of the IT department, over the coming months.

Using InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure™ (ESI), Hibernian is mapping and assessing IT skills against the SFIA Framework as well as managerial skills against the Oxford Behavioural Framework, in order to identify specific areas where development is required.

Sharon O’Brien, executive manager of IT at Hibernian, is responsible for relaying the results back into the Training Education and Development (TED) forum, in order to prioritise training needs. “The initiative, implemented from the bottom-up, has enjoyed great feedback from individuals,” said O’Brien. “We expect it to significantly boost morale as the technology gives employees a clear view of their career path and allows them to control their training accordingly. Focusing training effectively will also have the added benefit of maximising our training budget.”

“Through a more analytical view of an organisation’s skills, training can be much more precisely targeted, leading to dramatic improvements in workforce efficiency,” said Ashley Wheaton, CEO of InfoBasis. “Not only does this benefit the employee, allowing them to perform better within their role, but enables companies to deploy their entire workforce more effectively.”
