BCS CareerDeveloper runs on InfoBasis ESI platform
In continuation of the British Computer Society’s campaign to improve standards of IT professionalism, the Society has launched its latest solution for IT employers to manage and develop the IT skills within their organisation, whilst raising standards and increasing the credibility of the profession. The solution has been developed in partnership with InfoBasis Limited, a leading provider of skills management technologies.
The BCS CareerDeveloper web-based solution enables organisations to effectively plot the career development of their IT team by managing employees’ skills and competencies and identifying areas of training need.
Developed in partnership with InfoBasis, this latest BCS resource runs on the InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure platform. BCS Career Developer was developed to enable businesses to better understand their staffs’ needs and aspirations as well as helping them to see how individual skills and talents match the businesses requirements.
David Clarke, BCS chief executive believes tools such as CareerDeveloper are vital investments for an industry plagued by project failure and negative public perception:
“BCS CareerDeveloper is the latest offering from the BCS’s professional products suite to ensure standards of IT professionalism are improved. Similar to the recently launched BCS SkillsManager which was targeted at individuals who wanted to invest in their IT career and to discover what they needed to do to progress up the ladder, CareerDeveloper is aimed at the IT manager or director who wants to do more to develop his/her team; to ensure they’re motivated, they have goals to achieve and they know what they can do to raise the professionalism of the department and the profession as a whole.
“BCS Career Developer enables an organisation to ensure the required skills are available to deliver successful projects on time. It will help staff feel motivated and valued and the scheme can be accredited by the BCS to provide an additional selling point to customers.
“We have been working closely with industry to provide guidance on all issues relating to staff development to ensure standards are raised and to drive home the message that a competently skilled and motivated IT workforce is paramount to the professions’ image and credibility.”
BCS Career Developer empowers organisations to assess, develop and deploy their IT staff. It is browser-based and internet delivered to ensure constant availability with no software installation (hosted version). The BCS provide updates to the tool functionality and the SFIAplus standard automatically.
Career Developer is normally provided as an internet hosted product, however it can also be provided as an intranet solution.
