SFIA Foundation Grants First Software Provider Licence to InfoBasis Limited
Software Solution to enable enterprise-wide deployment of ICT skills framework
London, England (20 October, 2003) – The SFIA Foundation today granted its first – and so far only – licence for SFIA-compliant software to InfoBasis Limited, a leading provider of skills management business solutions.
The three-year licence enables InfoBasis to deploy its Enterprise Skills Infrastructure (ESI) solution pre-loaded with SFIA (the Skills Framework for the Information Age). “SFIA was introduced in 1998, and is the UK’s foremost ICT skills framework,” said SFIA Foundation Operations Manager, Ron McLaren. “Its increasing rate of adoption is directly as a result of the work of companies like InfoBasis leading the way with corporate and public sector customers. The award of this licence is in recognition of that work and also the quality and flexibility of their software. We are confident that InfoBasis will stimulate wider adoption of the framework, and help to show a clear route to easy deployment.”
“This licence is a significant step,” said InfoBasis CEO, Ashley Wheaton. “Skills management using industry standard frameworks is moving into the mainstream. The SFIA Foundation is undoubtedly playing a leading role in helping organisations realise the substantial benefits of skills management. Using InfoBasis ESI with SFIA, companies can better manage their employee assets through efficient recruitment, rapid project team formation and better identification of skills gaps and professional development needs. We have already witnessed significant benefits through its use within Norwich Union, the British Army and the NHS.”.
“This increased momentum in industry skills standards such as SFIA, will benefit our customers even further through enhanced services offered by their training and recruitment partners as well as the availability of national benchmarking of skills.” added Wheaton.
The SFIA framework – originally NISSF (the National Information Systems Skills Framework) was launched in 1998 and is based on the British Computer Society’s Industry Structure Model.
