InfoBasis Announces ESISync Data Integration Module
Providing Additional Strategic and Operational Benefits
London (22 September, 2003) – InfoBasis Limited today launches the InfoBasis ESISync module for InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure (ESI), allowing powerful data integration with HR systems such as payroll and project planning.
InfoBasis Limited, a leading provider of business solutions for skills management, says the ESISync release has been prompted by client realisation of the strategic and operational benefits gained from integrating InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure (ESI) with their existing HR and project management investments.
“In our implementations, we have noticed an interesting trend,” observes InfoBasis CEO, Ashley Wheaton. “Clients using the InfoBasis ESI soon realise that by integrating skills analysis into current business processes, they can achieve great strategic insights and operational efficiencies.” Wheaton adds, “These processes use data on existing internal HR systems such as Oracle HR and PeopleSoft or resource management solutions such as Changepoint, Niku or Adeo, but this has to be extracted and used in conjunction with advanced skills analysis for maximum effectiveness.”
The benefits are potentially wide-ranging. “Suppose, for example, that you integrated your project scheduling software with InfoBasis ESI.” says Wheaton, “As well as all the benefits of advanced skills management – such as knowing whose skills and abilities best suited a position in a project team – you can have the additional benefit of knowing their current availability. This optimises the resource management process and increases the success rate of projects.”
Another advantage of InfoBasis ESISync is a reduction in solution integration project times. “Rather than develop ad-hoc data integration solutions for each client, we decided to write a module that provides integration in a structured, configurable, format.” Says InfoBasis’ Technical Director, Nicholas Revell. “To complete a systems integration project using ESISync, all that remains is to modify the data mappings for the client. This results in a saving for clients of up to 80% of the time required for implementation.”
Nicholas Revell explains another, key benefit of InfoBasis ESISync: timely accuracy. “Existing data integration solutions are mostly ‘one-shot’ – data are pulled from one system and inserted into the destination system. If integration is to be a continual process, such solutions are unusable. InfoBasis ESISync, however actively compares the source and destination data, processes the data and performs updates instantly, whenever required.”
Synchronisations can be performed between InfoBasis ESI and a number of different systems simultaneously, provided they support OLEDB (Microsoft OLE Database) or ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). In addition, SQL Server is natively supported and custom adaptors can be created. Synchronisations are controlled using channels defined in an XML configuration file. A graphical editor is provided, enabling InfoBasis ESI solution implementers to edit these configuration files.
ESISync is currently available to InfoBasis ESI clients, and is the first in a set of planned extension modules which will be released over the next 12 months.
