NWCET Grants InfoBasis IT Skill Standards License

The Washington State-based IT education and skills development organization National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) today announced that they have granted InfoBasis Inc a worldwide license to the Center’s Information Technology Skill Standards.

The NWCET Skill Standards 2003 Edition, which guide education and training by identifying and cataloging specific skill sets required for various jobs in Information Technology (IT), were developed over the past year in conjunction with CompTIA, the National Skill Standards Board, and other industry partners. NWCET is now seeking to ensure that they can be deployed successfully in any size of organization, anywhere.

“The IT Skill Standards are extremely comprehensive, and can be especially powerful when teamed with the right software application,” said NWCET Executive Director Neil Evans. “We’re confident that InfoBasis provides the best solution to fully develop the Standards’ potential. We see the InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure (ESI) as the best software application to integrate the NWCET IT Skill Standards database into corporate HR departments.”

“In today’s knowledge economy, organizations need to understand the full value of their personnel,” said Ashley Wheaton, InfoBasis CEO. “Without an accurate view of their skills, there is no way to do this, and without an industry standard, benchmarking becomes impossible. The combination of NWCET’s much acclaimed standards with our powerful software, now enables organizations to understand what their people can do, and to develop them in line with the needs of the business.”

The integrated solution of the InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure (ESI) and NWCET’s IT Skill Standards will enable organizations to understand their personnel’s abilities as never before. Using the solution, organizations will be able to better manage their IT projects, develop and better manage their IT staff’s career paths and training, and reap the other benefits of effective skills management such as: succession planning, smarter recruitment, risk analysis and readiness planning.
